“Read any good books lately?”  Me: “I’m not sure you are ready for that conversation”.

Hello! My name is Elaine Baker and I am a high school librarian by day, and by night.  What I mean is, I love my job and even when I am not actually at work, I am still reading books, reading social media about books and talking to people I know, and some I don’t, about books.  II am thankful that I had parents and grandparents who nurtured my great love of reading.  Currently I am a high school librarian and I have a teenage daughter, two teenage sons (help me!!), a husband (who is a writer by profession), 2 dogs and 2 obligatory cats (to keep in good standing with my librarian status).  I have the best job in the world, I get to read great books and inspire others to read, I hope I do that well because that is basically my mission in life.  I love anything sweet, fattening and southern cooked, hence I am currently eating stupid “cholesterol lowering” foods – bleh.  And yes, you can infer that I am not the youngest blogger of books but I hold to the fact that you are never to old to try new things or experience new things, unless it’s gymnastics.  You might want to rethink that one if you can throw out your back when you vacuum the floor…..

After visiting Edinburgh, Scotland last summer I have a great desire to travel more and step outside my comfort zone.  I have a full life of family, pets, and friends.   I also have a fantastic career which allows me to do what I love and am most passionate about, it’s truly the best job in the world.  Seriously.

Here at Living a Booked Life, I hope to pass along some information, inspiration and a few laughs along the way (because really, life gets too hard and too serious sometimes).  I’d love for you to come along and hopefully you can take something away from what I’m blogging about here and I’d love to make some new friends along the way.
